Aiding Ukrainian families and children fleeing to Hungary

Members of Y’s Men Club Szombathely, which celebrated its 25th anniversary this year, collectively decide which organization to provide aid to through their charitable activities and fundraising. Thus far, target groups for charities have primarily been located in Szombathely.

In the past, the club had raised funds for families and children in need, people living with disabilities, the elderly, the sick and organizations and institutions that provided care for such individuals.

This year focus was placed on refugees from Ukraine. Thanks to Y’s Men International Danish Region, the financial coverage of our charity program increased significantly. In fact, the 4000 Euro regional sum was complemented by the Koldinghus Y’s Men’s mother club, which meant that housing support and benefits for refugee families could be extended outside of Vas County to the Western Transdanubia Region. In order to perform their work as effectively as possible, the club has been cooperating with the Western Transdanubian Centre of the Hungarian Charity Service of the Order of Malta, as well as its group in Szombathely.

As a result of their shared work, temporary and even permanent housing for many families in the region will be ensured, while allowing children to enjoy their summer holiday and preparing them for school. News of the Danish charity and the cooperation between the club and the Hungarian Charity Service of the Order of Malta appeared in the local newspapers Vas Népe and Kisalföld.
